Militant death toll in foiled infiltration bid rises to six

observer bureau
Srinagar: The number of militants killed in Thursday's foiled infiltration bid near the Line of Control in Uri sector of north Kashmir has risen to six, an Army spokesman said today. The bodies of two militants were sighted near the scene of the gun battle in Maidan Nalla area of Uri, close to the LoC, the spokesman said, adding that the rugged and difficult terrain was making it difficult to retrieve them. Meanwhile, the bodies of four other militants, recovered soon after the encounter, were buried today after forensic experts collected samples for DNA test. The samples were collected on the direction given by the State Human Rights Commission to the police last year to maintain a DNA profile of unidentified militants. The Commission had issued this direction after its investigative wing established the existence of over 2,000 unmarked graves in north Kashmir.
