Srinagar: Three soldiers were killed on Saturday afternoon when terrorists opened fire on an Army convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pamore town, which has witnessed a series of similar attacks this year.
The motorcycle-borne terrorists fled the scene after the attack on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Pulwama district, Security forces have cordoned off the area.
The soldiers couldn’t retaliate with full force as there were civilians at the attack site, media reports said. A massive search operation is currently underway to nab them.
“The attack took place at Kadlabal in Pampore town. There was some retaliatory firing as well,” a police official said.
The Pampore town has witnessed a series of attacks on security forces this year. Nearly a dozen soldiers were killed in the attacks.
The security forces have beefed up security as well as surveillance in the region, particularly along the border, to track the movement of militants.
But in spite of that, terrorists still manage to launch surprise attacks on security forces, an indication of the difficult task that our brave soldiers face on a daily basis.
