JAMMU, FEB 15: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today stressed on the need for an integrated approach for effective implementation of various welfare schemes of the Government in the State.
Chairing a meeting to review the functioning of ICDS Department here today, the Chief Minister impressed upon the field functionaries manning these schemes to ensure that such schemes are properly projected among the target groups and their requirements and needs are properly factored in. This, she said, would not only make such schemes attractive among the target groups but also yield good results on the ground with successful implementation.
Minister for Social Welfare, Sajad Gani Lone and Minister of State for Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash were present in the meeting.
Mehbooba Mufti said though all the schemes meant for social development of masses are properly devised and planned but their proper and time bound implementation is very critical for the success of such schemes. She advised periodic review of implementation pace of these schemes by the nodal agencies and also time to time feedback from the ground.
The meeting was told that the working module of the Anganwari Centres in the State is being re oriented and many more functional components are being integrated to make them Community Social Centres with early childhood education and healthcare linkages.
Recently 3361 more centres have been sanctioned to the network of Anganwari Centres in the State and also 1500 Anganwari Centres are being adopted by various functionaries of the Department to make them model Anganwari Centres by way of attention, ownership and functioning, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was told that under the convergence programme with Health Department, health checkups, de worming camps and other investigations for the kids are being arranged at these centres.
The meeting was also informed that buildings for 500 Anganwari Centres are being constructed across the State in convergence mode with the Rural Development Department which would have aesthetically developed child friendly facilities like book corners, toy chests, tastefully coloured playing spots etc.
Under the Ladli scheme, the meeting was informed that 2741 cases were covered during 2015-16 while as 8921 cases have been targeted for coverage during the current financial year.

Vyas; Principal Secretary, Education, Shaleen Kabra; Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Dr. M. K. Bhandari; Secretary, Social Welfare, Sajad Ahmad Khan; Secretary, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Shafiq Raina; Secretary, Rural Development Department, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi besides Mission Director, ICDS, Talat Parvez were present in the meeting.
