Srinagar, Apr 23: A 12-year-old boy from Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) was detained after he crossed into the Indian side along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Mendhar in Poonch district, an army official said.
“Our troops deployed in Balakote apprehended a 12-year-old boy who crossed to this side from the LoC. He was later handed over to the Mendhar police,” the Army official said. Police identified the boy as Muhammad Zahid, son of Mohammad Arif, resident of Kundi Nakyal in Pakistan Administered Kashmir. “The PAK boy is presently in our custody,” said SDPO Mendhar, Reyaz Tantray. According to the police officer, the boy seems to mentally unsound “as he could not speak properly during investigation.”
