SRINAGAR FEBRUARY 21: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today directed the officers to intensify market checking in Srinagar to curb black marketing, profiteering and hoarding of essential commodities.
DC was speaking in a meeting to discuss measures for regulating price of essentials in the city. He directed the officers to constitute seven special market checking squads who would be equipped with latest testing and weighing machines to check any violation of set norms.
It was said that strict action as per law shall be initiated against erring traders. The meeting was informed that FCS&CA Department has revised the retail price of different varieties of imported fish within the municipal limits of Srinagar.
The DC directed the FCS&CA officers to publish rates of essential commodities in leading newspapers on regular basis, besides shopkeepers were asked to display rate lists of all essentials in the shops.
