SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 22: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today convened a meeting to review arrangements for upcoming festival of Mahashivratri.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, while Deputy Commissioners of all the valley districts briefed the Div Com about the festival arrangements through video conferencing.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues which included security, traffic, un-interrupted power and water supply, medicare, sanitation for smooth celebrations of the festival
It was given out that mobile vans loaded with fish for sale have been kept at their designated places and vegetables especially Lotus Stems (Nadroo), Spinach, walnut, Cheese and other essential commodities are adequately available in the market. Besides the LPG distributors have also been directed to ensure adequate availability of LPG cylinders through Mobile Vans for the consumers especially Pandit community.
Officials from Health Department informed the meeting that two ambulances with first aid kits will be deployed at the Shankracharya foothills and near Nehru Park on the banks of Dal Lake.
On the occasion, the Div Com directed the concerned officials to keep a check on price of essentials and take strict action against those found indulging in profiteering and hoarding.
He directed the officials of various departments to ensure all necessary arrangements well in time and to work in coordination so that the festival is celebrated smoothly across the Division.
