JAMMU, FEBRUARY 24: Director General of Police (DGP), Dr. S. P. Vaid today visited the Gulshan Ground and took review of arrangements of 28th Police Public Mela being held here on 26 February. He was accompanied by various senior police officers including Additional Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police.
Dr. Vaid, while inspecting the venue, discussed about the space allotted to different stall holders for displaying their products for the sale to the public. He was told that more than 51 stalls were established by different units of the Organization, who have reached here with their products. Besides police units, some other departments and Organizations are establishing their stalls at the venue, which include Prisons department and BALGRAN Charitable Home. RBI is also establishing a stall at the venue for creating awareness among the visitors about investments.
DGP asked the members of Management Committees to ensure quality of products, being displayed for sale, on reasonable rates to the customers. He said that rate list should be displayed at all stalls for convenience of the public.
Dr. Vaid was informed that Technical Education Department is also conducting a vocational training stall at the venue, de-addiction and JAN DHAN Yojana stalls would also be part of the Mela. Besides, some entertainment programmes, like folk dance, stage shows, tambola and children competitions have also been included in the daylong event.
DGP discussed Police bandubast, security, traffic arrangements put in place for the mega event. He was told that a comprehensive traffic plan has been finalized and parking slots have been identified on various points outside the venue. The DGP was informed that strict security arrangements have been put in place at the venue to ensure safety of visitors.
Dr. Vaid expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made by the management and stressed for close coordination among the different committees to make the event a success. He disclosed that the event would be inaugurated at 10.30 AM and raffle draw for 8969 prizes would be held at the venue at 4 PM in the presence of public.
Earlier, AIG (Welfare), Dr. Haseeb Mughal, who was accompanying the DGP apprised about the various aspect of the Mela and the arrangements made for smooth conduct of the mega event.
