Indian skipper Virat Kohli on Monday became the first Asian skipper to emerge victorious in a Test match conducted in Australia, England and South Africa during the same calendar year surpassing the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sourav Ganguly, following the 31-run win in the first Test at Adelaide.

The victory also saw the end of India’s ten-year-long wait for a Test win Down Under with the Asian giants last emerging victorious under the leadership of Anil Kumble at Perth in 2008.

Kohli has expressed a desire to maintain the winning streak in the upcoming clashes as well, setting the stage for a historic whitewash against Australia.

“We can’t be happy with just one Test match. We will not be satisfied with just one Test. Yes we are happy about this victory but this is something we need to build on. We literally have nothing to lose,” said Kohli.

“The win has given us the right momentum to play in a big series like this. We have had to work hard for five days. The physical and mental toil, and the emotion of it all come together in a result, so it is a very special feeling.”

“Having never done it in Australia, to take the lead first up, is a good achievement on the team’s part, and something we are looking to build on,” he added.
