JAMMU, March 01: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today said that large scale development projects worth Rs 1.10 crore have been taken up in Gandhi Nagar Constituency to strengthen the public infrastructure in the area.
The Speaker said this while convening a public meet at Azad Nagar which saw a large participation from people of surrounding areas including Bikram Nagar, Gadi Garh, Chatha, Bohr Camp.
Kavinder Gupta while interacting with the locals apprised them in detail of various initiatives in progress in their localities with regards to reinforcing power supply, road network, drainage systems. He informed them that deep drain construction project from Karan Bagh (Chatha) to Chatha Mill has been approved which will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh, the works for which are scheduled to start with a few days.
He also apprised the locals of ongoing work for construction of a total of six lanes in Bikram Nagar and Azad Nagar area, the project for which is being executed at a cost of about Rs 20 lakh.
The Speaker also announced Rs 30 lakh project for construction of shed and protection wall at Chatha Mill cremation ground in response to the demand of the residents of the Chatha and nearby areas.
During the public meeting, the locals apprised the Speaker of their various concerns that need urgent attention of the authorities.
Kavinder Gupta assured the public that all their demands will be taken up to appropriate forums for immediate action.
Responding to the local public demand for urgent action to reinforce the power infrastructure in the area, the Speaker directed for a new 250 KVA transformer to be installed besides upgradation/renovation of the Low Transmission Conductors in the area. The work for this shall be undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 10 lakh.
SDM South Sonu Pargal, Tehsildar South Shesh Pal besides officers from various concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
