Focus on asset creation, avoid unproductive works: Abdul Haq to officers

SRINAGAR , DEC 13: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq, today directed the officers to utilise funds allotted under various centrally-sponsored schemes for asset creation and avoid benefitting individuals.

The Minister said this while chairing a review meeting held at SKICC to discuss the 14thFC award works of Rural Development Department of Kashmir division.

The meeting was attended by Director Rural Development Department, Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali, besides District Planning Officers, Block Development Officers and other concerned.

Mr. Haq said funds allotted to the State under Mahatma Gandhi Employment Guarantee Scheme, Indira Awas Yojna and other such schemes should be utilised transparently and judiciously. Stressing on optimal use of funding for asset creation in the State, he said the Department has done exemplary work, despite the unfavourable conditions during last few months. He said assets created will determine the credibility of the Department and place of the State in the country. He called for executing such works on priority which are in the larger benefits of the society.

The Minister directed for holding Gram Sabhas in their blocks every fortnightly so that people living in respective localities are actively involved in the process of decision making and developmental works. He called upon the officers to plan development projects which can become assets for future generations of the State.

Earlier, the Director RDD Kashmir, Gazanfar Ali, gave a detailed presentation about the functioning of the Department and developmental works carried out during current fiscal.
