BUDGAM, MARCH 16: To redress public grievances, a public durbar was convened by District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mir Altaf Ahmad, at Narbal Budgam today.
Senior officers of the district administration and a large number of the people were present on the occasion.
During the durbar, various deputations put forth demands regarding health care, power and water supply, roads, education, irrigation and flood control.
The DDC listened to public grievances patiently and assured them of timely redressal of all their genuine concerns. He also sought cooperation of the people in ensuring better public delivery system. He directed officers to gear up and ensure that the problems being faced by the people are addressed and resolved at the earliest.
He directed the PHE authorities to supply drinking water through tankers service to inhabitants of Check Kawoosa Chinar Colony immediately till water supply is restored in the area.
Later, the DDC inspected the proposed location of flood channel at Sharief Abad area and directed I&FC authorities to expedite the dredging work and embankment of the river Jhelum. The locals also made suggestions regarding land acquisition and compensation and DDC assured them that while framing any policy in this regard would be taken care of.
