Jammu May 30:-Tobacco cessation center at department of public health Dentistry Indira Gandhi government dental college & hospital, Jammu had been started on 31st May 2017 Principal Indira Gandhi Government Dental College, Jammu Dr. Rakesh Gupta said that this Centre provides help to the local Population of Jammu Region as the ill menace of tobacco is at alarming among the young population. This center is 1st.centre of its kind in J&K and few year’s back one more has been started as Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar in Jammu .As per Dr.Iqbal Singh,Assistant professor and head of department of Public health Dentistry (Head of TCC Centre IGGDC, Jammu) every year almost 300 to 500 tobaco consumers are given counseling for quiting tobacoo and so many have reduced Tobacco intake or left the ill effects by proper counseling given by the doctors of the tobacoo cessation centre. Tobacco cessation cenrtre was started at department of public health Dentistry,IGGDC, Jammu on 31st may 2017 but later in 2018 it was made mandatory for all dental colleges to have Tobacco cessation centre by dental council of India .Dr.Iqbal Singh (Head of T.C.C) is one of the certified trainer fort Tobacco cessation management by national Tobacco control programme(NTCP) Public Health Institute Munirka ,New Delhi which is quite helpful for providing proper counseling of the Tobacco abusers.Principal IGGDCJ ammu and Dr.Iqbal Singh Head(TCC) have appealed people of region to avail the service of TCC centre to help them get rid of the Tobacco abuse.Also quit Tobacco helpline number will be started very soon by the TCC centre for the convenience of people of remote areas of Jammu region in which counseling would be given online or on mobile and also track would be kept of the Tobacco abusers to help them get rid of Tobacco menace.( Deepika Kour)
