Visit of Union Council of Ministers to J&K a futile exercise: BDC Chairperson
Demands establishment of Munsiff Court in Block Dansal
NAGROTA, July 18: BDC Chairperson Block Dansal Reena Thappa expressed utter disappointment over the visit of Union Council of Ministers to Jammu and Kashmir for not fulfilling a single demand committed with the people, terming it as futile exercise.
While interacting with people here, Reena Thappa said that as part of Union Government’s Public Outreach Programme, Union Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey had visited various Panchayats of Block Dansal, Jammu and listened to issues and concerns of people of the areas.
She mentioned that the Block residents apprised the Union Minister about their concern with regard to setup Munsiff Court in Block Dansal as the residents have to travel Jammu city on daily basis for legal assistance and remedial actions by covering a journey over three hours and by spending an amount of upto Rs 200 as travelling expenses.
Pertinent to mention here that Union Minister for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey as a part of 36-member of the Union Council of Ministers who visited Dansal Block on January 2020 to bridge the gap between public and government, and to ascertain the needs of the public so as to better fulfill them.
The BDC Chairperson mentioned that the Munsiff Courts are already working in Bishnah, R S Pura and Akhnoor of District Jammu which are situated not more than 30 Kilometres from Jammu Court complex, whereas the area in Dansal Block, the resident are facing step motherly treatment by the government by not establishing a Munsiff Court.
Thappa asserted that few years ago Jammu and Kashmir Government had set up new administrative units in the form of Tehsils and few Niabats in Block Dansal of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state but despite taking up the matter for establishing a Munsif court nothing has been done. She asserted that the block Dansal is one of the oldest blocks in District Jammu and is situated 80 KMs away from Jammu Court complex. The entire block has several Panchayats with an appropriate population exceeding more than 50,000 people, she added.
The BDC Chairperson appealed to the Lt Governor GC Murmu and the Chief Justice of J&K High Court to consider the long pending demand of the people of Block Dansal by setting up a Munsiff Court at Headquarter Dansal so that the public of the area would get the benefits of judicial set up for legal purpose and may not face any inconvenience with regard to legal remedies.
