Restore 4G, treat PRC as Domicile and defer biometric system in rations to avoid physical contacts in view of Covid-19 spread- JKPCC Chief
Jammu, July 27, 2020: JKPCC Chief Shri G.A. Mir has asked the Government to further gear up the measures to deal with rising number of Covidf-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir and also appealed to the people to strictly follow the health advisories and other SOPs in this regard, while reiterating the demand for immediate restoration of 4G services , treating PRCs as domicile certificates and deferring biometric system in the distribution of ration to avoid physical contacts .
Taking a review of the overall situation with a number of senior leaders of the PCC executive of Jammu today, Shri Mir said that the Govt. should review its decision with regard to 4G and restore it immediately, so that all urgent and essential documentary activities are smoothly done, on line to minimize the physical contacts to check the spread of the disease. Since the J&K Govt. has now admitted the feasibility of restoring 4G services, there is no justification to delay its restoration. This will save lot of physical exercise and contacts of people for availing various essential services.
He was apprised that people in large numbers are approaching revenue offices, besides the private persons for getting domicile certificates, Shri Mir said that Govt. should have accepted the demand for treating PRCs as domiciles certificates but it is most unfortunate that Govt. is adopting a tough posture and BJP is unsympathetic to the plight of people facing avoidable hardships for again getting proof of residence in the shape of domicile, who already hold a validly issued PRC (Permanent Resident Certificate). This is most unfortunate scenario of the present state of affairs, while online services are also not working, amidst reports of large number of online applications already pending beyond the prescribed period. He also raised questions over bio-metric verification for PDS as people have to take great risk of punching the same button for getting ration, causing threat of spread of Coid-19. This could have been differed for few months in view of the pandemic.
