Udhampur: The Forest Department Panchari in collaboration with Sanjeevani – Jan – Kalyan on Monday celebrated the Van Mahotsav- 2020 by planting a large number of deodar saplings at Sankari Devta of tehsil Panchari. Tehsildar Panchari Mulkh Raj who was the chief guest, emphasized that NGO, youngsters, locals should be exhorted to plant saplings. Forest Range officer Panchari Riaz Ahmed said, that such efforts would not only conserve trees of the country, but would also improve micro climate and add to aesthetics in rural and urban areas where the green cover was drastically dwindling. Naib tehsildar Panchari Gulshan Amin also planted and encouraged others to plant more trees. Forester Budhi Singh, Hoshyar Singh, Forester Rajinder Singh and Forest Guards of forest range panchari and Sanjeevani-Jan-kalyan NGO present Jasvir Singh, Khajoor Singh, Founder member of NGO, Jagdev Singh and Sanjeev Singh, Horticulture Technician were present on the occasion.
