    5 Days Online Training Course on SWAYAM and MOOCs Concludes at GDC Bhaderwah

    GDC Bhaderwah under NAAC quality initiatives and able leadership  Sh. Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner Secretary and Dr Yaseen Ahmed Shah, Director of Higher Education Department, UT Of Jammu and Kashmir started         5 Days Online Training Course on SWAYAM and MOOCs from 05-08-2020 to 09-08-2020 for the faculty and scholars wherein 80 participants got enrolled for the course. The course was divided into three Module as 1.Swayam Vs SWAYAM Prabha: An Introduction 2.SWAYAM: Course Development and Design and 3.Expression of Interest and Proposal For MOOC. All the three Modules were followed by learning outcomes, discussion and the assignment. The platform used was the Canvas online and the Model used was Flipped class dividing the class activity as pre-class through advance delivery of contents, during class for discussions and post-class for assignments. Go through these contents in the course the participants expressed their satisfaction and submitted the encouraging feedback. All the participants shall be given a course completion certificate. The purpose of the course was to train and aware the faculty members ,so that they can further spread awareness regarding the SWAYAM, SWAYAM Prabha  MOOCs among the learners. The resource person for the training was Prof. Surinder Singh Parihar; Convenor of IQAC. The course was organized by IQAC of the college under the Chairmanship of Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Sharma, Principal of the college. Expressing his satisfaction on the completion of the course Dr Sharma congratulated the participants and appreciated the efforts team IQAC for initiating the training on MOOCs and e-contents development. He underscored need and importance of organizing such important events to aware the learners on the mass scale .  SWAYAM  ,the online portal for self learning, where both the teachers and the learners can enroll for the courses .The extra advantage to learn from the portal is that credit transfer is possible  for the learners .That graduates and post graduates can earn 40% credits from the SWAYAM  for their degree programmes as B.A.BSc,B.Com,M.A,M.Sc ,as these programmes credit-based and the learners have to score and earn these credits semester wise. Not only credit based even skill and training based courses are freely available at the portal. The courses run  on the platform are based  on MOOCs  (Massive Open Online Course)   and the MOOCs course structure is based on 4Es-E-Tutorial(Vidio Lecture), E-Contents(supplementary reading materials in audio,video, text web links etc), E-Discussions(Queries and problem solving) and E-Assessment(weekly tests and final exam)  for all Modules or Topics. The chapter is divided into Modules run weekly  and each module has these 4Es.The total engagement time per Module for the learner is 2-3Hrs,so if the course is 1creditt,it shall be divided into 3weeks with covering time 10-15Hrs.The MOOCs course are run and managed by National Coordinators as NPTEL , IGNOU,UGC etc appointed for the purpose .The contents are developed and designed by the course coordinators or the subject matter experts from the reputed institutes of the country.SWAYAM portal becomes the source for SWAYAM prabha ,the collection of 32 educational channels for the telecast of high quality contents 24/7 available for the learners subject wise/stream wise through free Dish TV .
