SRINAGAR, MARCH 24: Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir, today observed the World Tuberculosis Day and held an awareness program at the Institute of Hotel Management at Raj Bagh here.
Pertinently, global communities join hands in observing this day to fight against this disease. The theme for World TB Day 2017 is ‘Unite to End TB’.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmed Lone, who was the Chief Guest, highlighted various aspects of this disease and programmes initiated by the Government to eradicate it. He said that the treatment for TB is being provided in all health institution of the Valley.
Dr. Lone said all of us need to join hands to fight it, adding that the media, medical fraternity, social workers and others can contribute in creating awareness about the disease.
Senior doctors spoke at length about causes, symptoms, medical treatment and prevention of TB.
The function was attended by Director Health Services, CMO Srinagar, Deputy Director SKIMS, STO Kashmir, senior doctors, students, teachers among others.
Earlier, the students from the Institute of Hotel Management, Rajbagh, and Kashmir Public School, Harwan, jointly held a rally in Rajbagh to create awareness about the disease.
