Welfare Society Guru Nanak Nagar Jammu Condemned Imposition Of Property Tax

Welfare Society Guru Nanak Nagar Jammu while strongly condemending the imposition of Property Tax in the UT of J&K pointed out that the Municipal Corporation Jammu has utterly failed in carrying out its daily activities like sanitation and street lighting etc. It is said that most of the recently installed led street lights are out of order and no attention is given to their replacement despite complaints. JMC has also not taken any steps towards the filling up of vacancies among their sanitary staff caused on account of retirements and which has lead to not only shortage of sanitation workers but heaps of stinking garbage in and around. It is further said that JMC is already collecting Rs. 100/- per month from every household for lifting garbage but the visit of garbage lifting vehicles is getting thin day by day. It is also pointed out that except for a few places like Gandhinagar Channi Himmat etc. most of the places in the city of Jammu lack basic planning and public infrastructure like gardens footpaths playgrounds etc. and throughout Jammu we least see proper places for taxi or auto or minibus stands and when the JMC is not providing such basic services then for what it requires collection of funds from people. It was further said that the timing of the imposition of such taxes is also wrong as the public is already suffering from economic recession on account of Corona Pandemic.
