Rehber-e-khel seek regulizations, enhancement of wages
All Jammu & Kashmir Rehbar-e-khel teachers forum has appealed the govt to regularize their job and enhance their wages from Rs 100 per day.
Condemning silence of the govt over plight of Rehbari khel, mostly highly qualified, Joint Secretary AJKRKTF and District President Ramban Shahbaz Katoch appealed to the govt to accept the long pending demand of the Rehbar-e-Khel in Jammu & Kashmir where these educated youth are being exploited in the name of daily wage.
”We are given Rs 100 per day and Rs 3000 in a month which is sheer violation of minimum wage act which has not been implemented in Jammu & Kashmir depriving educated youth of their genuine demands, ”said ShahbazKatoch.
Shahbaz Katoch said that the B. P. Ed, M.P.Ed, M. Phill, PhD, physical education youth have been engaged as Rehbar-e-Khel facing exploitation, await salary hike and deduction of probation period.
Over 3000 B. P. Ed, M. P. Ed, M. Phill, PhD physical education degree holders were engaged as Rehbar-e-Khel(ReK) in j&k youth services and sports department since 2018 by the previous PDP-BJP.
Shahbaz Katoch Joint secretary of j&k Rehbar-e-khel teachers forum said that they are not getting allowances including house rent, medical facilities etc like a permanent employee.
The PDP-BJP govt approved 3000 posts under the policy of Rehbar-e-khel scheme through a cabinet under in February 2017.
The appointment process throughout the state was completed by January 2018 and total of 3000 candidates having B. P. Ed,M. P. Ed, M. Phill, PhD degree holders were appointed.
Shahbaz Katoch has said that they are facing starvation and their inability to feed families, many youth left the job and are doing their own private works to earn livelihood.
In last 5 years, he said, there was no significant recruitment activity in j&k. At present out 3000, just 2700 candidates are left in the YSS department.
He said during February 2020, they met the Lt governor, G C murmur assuring to sort out their issue within 15 days the Lt governor formulated a five-member committee to look into the matter.
The committee was asked to recommend solution to the issues of Rehbar-e-Jang lat and Rehbar-e-zirat employees, he said.
Shahbaz Katoch said despite covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, most of these employees are performing their job at their respective place. They have been engaged in health department nowadays. No extra allowances are being given to them. They are not covered under any health insurance scheme. They are virtually being considered as ‘orphan babies’ of the j&k YSS department. They submitted representations several times and the same were forwarded to the higher authorities for consideration by him.
