    Th Balbir Singh urges Govt to develop Jasrota on tourism map

    Promote religious tourism, protect wildlife sanctuary & renovate Jasrota Fort

    Kathua, October 18: Former MLC and Senior Congress Leader Th Balbir Singh today urged the Govt. to bring Jasrota area and its adjoining forest area and wildlife on tourism map by developing infrastructure.

    Paying his obeisance at famous Jasrota Kali Mata temple on auspicious occasion of Navratra, senior leader of Congress Party and Former MLC Th Balbir Singh sought blessings from the Goddess. Welcomed by the Jasrota Temple Welfare Committee members, Th Balbir Singh hoisted the religious flag at the Temple and prayed for the peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and the country as a whole.

    After visiting the area, Th Balbir Singh said that the Jasrota Fort, Temple, Forest and wildlife area should be conserved and developed on the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.

    Coming at the entry gates of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, the religious tourism has enough scope in Kathua’s famous Jasrota area where deers and leopard, nilgai (blue-bull) and other wildlife animals exist and their population needs to be protected

    “The pathway, road, sitting areas and huts should be developed by the tourism department in collaboration with the civil administration,” he said, and added that Jasrota is a heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and it should not be left unattended and underdeveloped.

    During his visit, Th Balbir Singh appealed to the people to follow covid-19 guidelines and wear face masks while adhering to the norms of social distancing during gatherings at religious places or any other place.

    “We should cooperate with the administration in covid mitigation,” he added in his appeal to the people during his visit to the historic temple at Jastora.

    He said that the people of the area have severe shortage of drinking water in Kandi area and demanded that lifting of water from the nearby water resources and requirement of establishing more tube-wells to meet the demands of the locals.

    The temple committee members were also present on the occasion including President Jagdish Singh Jasrotia, Brij Lal Sharma, Balwan Singh, Kewal Singh, KB Singh, Ramesh Singh (Fallu) and others.
