Prof Veena Pandita’s should be removed from the post’
Jammu: 26-10-20: The National Secular Forum (NSF) has flayed the Government for willfully ignoring the resentment and opposition shown by the people of Jammu and Kashmir against the illegal and backdoor re-appointment of Prof Veena Pandita as Chairperson of J&K Board of School Education and urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately order probe into the illegal appointment and get the same cancelled.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Vikas Sharma, state president NSF, today made a point that on one side, the LG’S administration has launched crusade against corruption while on other side maintained a criminal silence over the backdoor and illegal appointment of JKBOSE Chairperson Prof Veena Pandita.
He hailed the LG’s administration for crusade against corruption but added that people sitting at the helm of affairs in J&K Government openly violated all the established norms to extend favour to an overage candidate while making appointment to the chair of JKBOSE chairperson.
“The Union Minister of State (MoS) in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh had categorically directed the UT Government to avoid giving extensions to retiring officers during the COVID lockdown period but the Govt twice given extension to Prof Veena Pandita on the post of JKBOSE chairperson,” he pointed out.
He further said that School Education Department itself published advertisement in newspapers putting a bar on age limit at 57 years but after a fortnight ordered reappointment of the outgoing Chairperson who is above 60 years of age.
“Also, no interview was conducted and the invited applications were thrown into dustbin making mockery of the system but the then Lieutenant Governor G C Murmu haplessly watched the entire drama enacted under his nose,” he added.
Dr Sharma said, “Lot of people raised question over this backdoor appointment and brought the matter into the notice of Mr. Murmu but he failed to take action and gave an impression that Advisors here are more powerful than him.”
Dr Sharma urged the incumbent Lieutenant Governor to personally intervene into the matter and save the institutions from falling into the hands of people who are promoted and pampered by vested interests. He demanded high level probe to unearth this backdoor appointment scam and immediate removal of Prof Veena Pandita from the post of JKBOSE chairperson from the position for the sake of good and transparent governance in J&K.
Among those who were present in the press-conference included, Papinder Singh, Pushpinder Singh, Mashkoor Alhi, Ankush Kumar, and Rahul Sharma.
