Elections should not be held before restoration of Statehood, delimitation: Shiv Sena
JAMMU, Nov 9: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray Jammu and Kashmir unit has called on the people to boycott the forthcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections till the restoration of Statehood and delimitation of Assembly seats which were the long pending demands of the people of the Union Territory of J&K
Briefing media persons here today, Manish Sahni, State President Shiv Sena said that what the Central Government has come up with to bring the new laws in Jammu and Kashmir and conducting elections which are beyond the public’s understanding.
Sahni said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should fulfil his promise of the restoration of statehood as he assured that the statehood will be restored at the earliest. He asked J&K BJP leadership why they are maintaining silence on this matter, asking the party leadership to clear its stand on the restoration of statehood.
Reacting over the confirmation of People’s Alliance of Gupkar Declaration of participating in the DCC elections, Sahni said that all these leaders cannot stay away from power for long. He said that these leaders have nothing to do with public issues. He said that all leaders of Jammu are silent about delimitation, terming it an attempt to make public confuse about the new laws and the forthcoming DDC elections are distracting attention from the real issues.
Sahni appealed to the public to boycott the elections going to be held before the delimitation and restoration of state status. He said that history is witnessed that Jammu people will not get their rights till they came on roads.
Sahni said that the people of Jammu division will have to take their rights. He asserted that if we will not take any concrete step to get our rights, the young and upcoming generation will not forgive us for our carelessness attitude. On this occasion Gen Secretary Vikas Bakshi, working president Ashwani Gupta, Secretary Raj Singh, Joint Secretary Raju Salaria were present.
