Udhampur: Continuing Jammu Kashmir Police war on drugs offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur police under the supervision of Sargun Shukla, IPS SSP Udhampur has been acting strongly on the nexus of drug peddlers in district Udhampur and its surrounding areas. In this context, Udhampur Police achieved a major breakthrough by arresting main heroin (chitta) supplier of Udhampur area, responsible for drugs supply and trapping innocent youth, with the recovery of 120 grams of heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
Police party of PS Rehambal and PP Tikri led by Inspector Chaman Gorka SHO PS Rehambal and assisted by Inspector Jaswinder Singh IC PP Tikri conducted a surprise checking of vehicles at Flata Chowk on NHW-44, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur and the police party intercepted one vehicle XUV 500 bearing registration no. JK14C 8361 for thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 120 grams of heroine (chitta) was recovered from their possession. The identity of the said narcotic smuggler was established as Hamraj Singh @ Tiger S/O Surinder Singh R/O Barrian, Udhampur who was arrested on spot.
The above said narcotic smuggler was a habitual criminal and has been named in numerous cases.
In this connection, a case FIR no. 71/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS stands registered in PS Rehambal and further investigation of the case is underway.
Pertinent to mention here that Udhampur Police was trying to apprehend the above said kingpin alongwith consignment since long time and ultimately succeeded in apprehending them today. Police is also working on the involvement of other narcotic smugglers in this illigal narcotic trade so that the innocent youth of Udhampur and its surrounding areas could be saved from the menace of drug addiction.
