Jammu: 25 April: Army commemorated ‘World Malaria Day’ at Bafliaz in District Poonch (J&K) with an awareness lecture for local populace. The locals were made aware about malaria disease and also the efforts required to prevent malaria in the region.
The locals educated on prevalence of Malaria in more than 100 countries and nearly 4 lakh people die from this disease every year. In India, there are several malaria control programme like National Vector Borne Control Programme. NVBCP has developed a National strategic plan for making India malaria-free with the support of WHO by 2027. Malaria is preventable with the use of repellent cream, liquids, coil and other precautionary measures such as insecticide-treated bed, mosquito nets, wearing of clothes that cover maximum surface of body and indoor insecticide spraying. The locals appreciated Indian Army efforts for betterment of Locals.
