Kargil host 1st Polo Match in 2 Years after Covid 19 Pandemic

Polo is the traditional Game in Kargil Ladakh which has a great potential in future and people in different villages still used to play the game with enthusiasm and pride.
To promote polo in Drass, famous International Polo Magazine, LA Polo Delhi in collaboration with Himalayan sports and cultural development organization and Polo Promotion Committee Kargil are working on a promotional documentary in Ladakh and they are shooting different aspects of the Game in context with Ladakh particularly related to traditional natural game of Polo.
The Shoot is going on in Drass and other places of Kargil for which an exhibition polo match was played between LA Polo Delhi and Himalayan Sports Drass at Goshan International Polo Stadium, (Shagaran) which was acclaimed by the locals as well as tourist as after the 2 years of Covid 19 Pandemic this is the 1st Polo Match in Kargil.
The committee said there is a huge potential of traditional polo especially in Drass Ladakh as there are more than 1000 Horses in Drass and this game will also help in promotion of tourism.
Head Communication of LA Polo Shivani Joshi, while talking to the media said that people in Ladakh are the best lovers and well wishers of Polo in the world as they don’t play polo for benefit but they play the game to connect themselves to their roots.
M Amin Polo while thanking the Magazine and its representatives said that it is a medium through which the world will know the hard work and pain taken by the people of Kargil to Revive this Game after the 1999 Kargil War.
He further added that After Ladakh Became UT its expected that Polo will get a special attention as a State Game of the Union Territory.
