    JU in Collaboration with Narayan Samaj Sewa Sanstha conducted Cleanliness drive under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

    Jammu, October 21– Aligning itself with cleanliness campaign initiated by Govt of India, The Department of Commerce, University of Jammu  under the dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Professor Manoj K Dhar,  has conducted  cleanliness drive  in collaboration with Narayan Samaj Sewa Sanstha, an NGO as a part of Extension and Outreach Program under “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiatives of Government of India at University of Jammu . More than 42 participants including faculty members, non teaching staff, students, research scholars and Alumni of the Department enthusiastically participated in the cleanliness drive as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. More than 50 bags of garbage (paper waste/Plastic waste/ Plastic bottles) are collected from various locations of the Social Science Block. The participants cleaned the area in and around the Department of Commerce and raised the slogan ‘One step towards cleanliness’. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Head of the Department of Commerce highlighted the significance and importance of cleanliness in the lives and asked the students, faculty and other staff to ensure proper hygiene at their respective place of working. Mr. Vinod Kumar Sharma, Chairman of the NGO appreciated the efforts of the staff and students towards maintenance of clean surroundings. He shared that individual responsibility is of essence in realizing the dream of a clean India and thus, each individual should voluntarily shoulder this responsibility. The Department has also initiated healthy refreshment initiatives along with a cleanliness drive for societal wellbeing awareness. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Tarsem Lal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce. During the said program The Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on preventive measures including physical/ social distancing, use of face masks, hand gloves, hand sanitizations has been followed to contain the spread of COVID-19.
