Stating that mere condemnations by mainstream leaders and strikes by separatists won’t stop cycle of death in Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin today said calling probes after every killing has become a formality now.
, Hakim Yasin said, “Militancy has taken U-turn and now it has emerged in a new shape. But after every killing it has become a routine that separatists call for a strike and mainstream leaders condemn the same. Killings and other related issues have been going on since 1947 and especially from the last 27 years in Kashmir. Every time when someone is killed, political parties start condemning such incidents and expressing solidarity with the victims. However, everybody does this individually.”
“Instead of condemning and condoling such killings individually, all the mainstream and separatists should come under one banner and urge India and Pakistan to solve the Kashmir dispute peacefully, if they have any sympathy for common Kashmiris. The need of the hour is to get united and there is no doubt that it will force the both countries to solve the vexed issue. Mere condemnations and strikes are useless as for the last almost three decades it has yielded nothing,” he said.
Hakim Yasin appealed all the separatist and mainstream leaders to shun their ego for the sake of Kashmiris so that some way out could be found.
The MLA Khansahib also lashed out at both State and Central governments for its failure to initiate a dialogue with all stake holders to solve the Kashmir problem. “State and Central Governments only promise that dialogue will be held but without any roadmap and agenda. The Government never declares its agenda on what terms and conditions dialogue will be held and with whom. They should make it clear on which conditions they are going to hold dialogue and with whom and on which issue? Issuing mere statements won’t be acceptable to people for long,” the PDF chief said.
He also said calling probes after every killing has become a formality now. “Instead of calling probes and forming enquiry commissions, it is the right time that government should hold the guilty responsible and punish them according to law,” he demanded.
