Srinagar, 04-Jan;You will be surprised to know that today in the name of journalism in Jammu and Kashmir, how people are being robbed of their pockets and who the people who are doing this robbery in the broad daylight are. Journalism is being told as a part of the voice of the general public and is being considered as the fourth pillar of democracy even on the basis of law. What name should be given to journalism when the fourth pillar has built or erected a tower for itself?
To become a good journalist one has to work hard day and night and many parents still want to give good sound education to their children to make them journalists. But the wise people in Jammu and Kashmir should never see such a dream in future. Here the Information and Public Relations Department is one such department who gives recognition to such journalists who do not believe in such dreams? Therefore, to become a journalist in Jammu and Kashmir, it is not necessary that you should be educated or not.
Nowadays, who does not want money in inflation, but government employees have desires to need more and more to get money in any way and they do not hesitate to do any extent even to strangle professional journalists.
You know many government employees or retired employees in the state of Jammu and Kashmir are taking out many colourful news items only he or she knows where they print. This is much so I know that all of them are earning double digit money by doing business against the law. The most important and noteworthy thing is that till date they have not given or furnished the correct details during their submissions of declaration forms before the District Magistrate concerned district.
That by misleading the recognized officials of the state, and making printing of their periodicals totally illegal is a matter of looting the government funds with two or two hands in broad daylight with the support of public servants of the information department. Before taking the permission of their publication to carry on their printing, the public servants of Jammu and Kashmir did not get the NOC from the respective departments before or after their retirement. The act of said newspaper owners is nothing but mere by making holes in the plate of other real journalists.
It is true that once the former Director of Information public relations Jammu and Kashmir had issued instructions vide their notification letter response No. INF/ESH-16/118-122/2015 dated 17/03/2015 that all the employees of the department should file an affidavit before him with consent to furnish the details of publications of their own or having in respect of their any relatives. How amazing it is that the employees, who had pleased the then director by giving false information or affidavits at that time, are demonstrating their newspapers today by printing indiscriminately. The quota of advertisement shifted into their accounts till date raised many questions upon the answerable department of information and public relations Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources further added and alleged that some employees, after getting their newspapers empanelled, have sold them in the hands of private parties with intention to earn lakhs of rupees.
Sources also reveal that there is no less number of state government employees involved in fake journalism in Jammu and Kashmir and many government employees are still publishing newspapers in the name of their wives, or relatives or by themselves are printing secretly. Hence the boat of Journalism sunk in Jammu Kashmir .
