Srinagar,14-Jan : After remaining suspended for a day due to fresh spell of snowfall in the Kashmir valley, air traffic resumed at the Srinagar airport on Saturday,also Jammu-Srinagar Highway was reopened for traffic.
Director, Airport Authority of India AAI, Srinagar Airport, Kuldeep Singh, confirmed that snow was cleared from the runway and apron early in the morning.
“Flight services have resumed. The first flight arrives by noon. We are looking forward to have maximum number of flights today, ” he said.
Following snowfall on Friday, most of flights to and fro Srinagar were cancelled and the airport authorities have already announced passengers of the cancelled flights would be accommodated by the respective airlines in the next available flight “at no extra cost.”
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was thrown open for the traffic this morning after the road was cleared.
The men and machinery were pressed into the service soon after the snowfall stopped, they said, adding that the road was cleared from the debris and snow.
They said that after clearance of the national highway, the LMVs passengers were released from both the sides.
