    Bangladesh Army Chief reviews passing out parade of Officer Trainees at Chennai

    Monitoring Desk,29-Apr; On the third day of his official visit to India, Bangladesh Army Chief Gen SM Shafiuddin Ahmed reviewed the passing out parade at the Officer’s Training Academy at Chennai. He complimented the cadets on an impeccable parade. 186 cadets, including 28 from Bhutan passed out from the hallowed portals of the OTA , tweeted the Indian Army.

    Bangladesh Army Chief Gen SM Shafiuddin Ahmed is currently in India on a three day official visit between April 27-29 on the invitation of Army Chief Gen Manoj Pande.

    Gen. Shafiuddin Ahmad and Army Chief Manoj Pande held a meeting on Thursday, April 27 where they discussed various issues pertaining to enhancing and strengthening interoperability, training, anti-terrorism collaboration and overall bilateral cooperation as part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations. An Implementing Arrangement for training of Peacekeepers deployed in United Nations Peacekeeping operations was also signed in presence of both the Chiefs.

    The Bangladesh Army Chief commenced his visit on Thursday by paying tributes to the fallen heroes of the Indian Armed Forces by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed later called on General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of Naval Staff, Air Marshal AP Singh, Vice Chief of Air Staff, Defence Secretary and the Foreign Secretary.

    India and Bangladesh share the historical legacy of cooperation and support during the Liberation War of 1971. The active engagement on the defence side includes high-level exchanges at the level of Service Chiefs, conduct of the inaugural Annual Defence Dialogues by the Defence Secretaries, Tri-services and Service-specific Staff Talks. Exchange visits of Bangladesh Mukti Jodhas and Indian war veterans take place every year in December to mark the Victory Day celebrations in Dhaka and Kolkata, said an official press release on the arrival of Bangladesh Army Chief on April 27.
