The General Observer for Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency, S. Sahdev reviewed preparations for bye-elections for Anantnag Parliamentary seat in a meeting here today. He also took stock of security arrangements being put in place for these elections in the district. The District Election Officer, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri informed the meeting that for 164183 eligible voters, 196 polling stations have been established in the district. It was said that there are 3890 migrant voters in the district for whom polling booths would be setup at Delhi, Jammu and Udhampur. Besides, webcasting facility at 20 polling stations is also being arranged in the district. The meeting was further informed that the process of summary revision has been successfully completed with net addition of 3542 voters, in addition to rationalization of polling stations.
The General Observer directed for providing technical know-how to presiding officers about EVM handling. He also stressed on deployment of the Static Surveillance Teams and Flying Squads to ensure that no cash, liquor and other prohibited items are used to lure the voters.
He called upon the DEO to ensure basic minimal facilities such as drinking water, electricity, toilet and ramp at every polling booth in the district. Later, the randomization of EVMs and the Polling Personals was undertaken in presence of the General Observer and representatives of political parties. The meeting was also attended by ADC, ACR, SDM Zainapora, AROs, EROs, Nodal Officers of various election related teams, Zonal and sectoral magistrates.
