Expressing his grave concern over the in- ordinate delay in issuance of the notification of 7th pay commission recommendations orders, National Mazdoor Conference (NMC)President Subash Shastri today urged upon the State Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu to immediately issue the notification regarding implementation of the 7th Pay Commission in favor of its employees and pensioners, so that confusion and uncertainty among the employees of the State Govt. and pensioners on this vital issue could come to an end.
“This is necessary in view of Finance Minister’s budget speech on January 11, 2017. The Govt. needs to assure employees, even if the implementation takes an year early issuance of notification is the need of the hour,” Shastri said while addressing a well attended workers’ meet here.
While appreciating the pro-people / pro-working class policies and programs of the Mehbooba Mufti led State Govt., who in spite of resource crunch is doing reasonable job and seems to aware of employees and pensioners problems, Shastri hoped that the Government after taking into account the rising prices and medical expenses will pay interim relief to employees and pensioners preferably @ 20% in view of non likelihood of DA installments have not being paid to employees and pensioners last financial year causing lot of financial problems are facing the salaried class and pensioners.
Emphasizing need to the regularization of sixty one thousand daily rated workers, working in the various Government departments, Shastri said Govt. needs to speed up the process of regularization of these workers who form the backbone of public utility system. He further said that till steps about regularization of this workforce are undertaken the respective departments should be provided separate wage heads for regularly disbursement of their wages and to arrange payment @ rupee 350 per day in their favor on the pattern of Central Govt.
Release of 7 % DA due from July last in favor of state Govt. employees and pensioners, total exemption of DA from income tax, include Jammu city in the proposed list of the 100 smart cities, enhance income tax exemption limit to rupees five lakhs, release all pending dues of casual laborers working in the various departments of the State government and enhancing Medical allowance to Rs 3000 per month were other demands highlighted on the occasion.
Among others who were present on the occasion including Rajan Babu, BS Jamwal, Sunil Kumar, Barkat Ram, Jai Paul Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, Surinder Kumar, Mohd Shafi, Darshan Bawa, Tarsem Sharma, Lal Singh, Girdhari Bhagat,Sham Lal, Swarn Bhagat, Sunil Bhagat and Bhupinder Singh and others were also present on the occasion.
