Says it’s an attempt to befool people of Kashmir
Srinagar, Dec 15: Terming the two visits of former union minister, Yashwant Sinha led delegation to Kashmir as ‘propaganda, former Union minister for minority affairs and senior Congress leader K Rahman Khan on Thursday said that central as well as the state government were not interested in normalizing the situation in the Valley.
“The delegation has no mandate from the authorities in power. It’s a mere propaganda. The delegation visiting Valley is aimed to befool the people of Kashmir,” Rahman Khan said while addressing a presser here at local hotel in Srinagar.
He said that the governments both at the Centre as well as in the state are not interested in normalizing the situation in Kashmir. “Despite the tall claims of both the government that the initiative has been taken to resolve the Kashmir issue but on ground the claims felt ill,” Khan, according to KNS correspondent, said.
Khan told reporters that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also visited Lahore to get the ties between the two neighbouring countries better but subsequently he forget the things.
“Besides, the mind sets of the two coalition parties are also different thereby they failed to tackle the prevailing situation in Kashmir,” he said.
The senior congress leader said that the UPA regime did their best for the peace and prosperity of the state.
Khan further stated that the claims made by PM Modi over demonetization of old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 also felt ill on ground. “Demonetization wasn’t meant to check black money but to collect the unpaid tax. It is not step against terror or any other offence but is simply a business that PM Modi carried out,” he said.
He said that with this demonetization, the poor section of the country has been left to face hardships. “Patients are dying, marriages are being cancelled, parents failed to deposit the school fees of their wards and what not happened due to it,” he said.
Khan said that PM must be made accountable for such happenings. “PM Modi had earlier announced demonetization with an aim to check black money and other things but it has now taken U-turn by saying that he wanted to make the country with cashless economy,” he said.
He said that despite the fact that 55 per cent people across the country have no bank accounts, how it is possible for Modi led regime to make the country cashless economy. “Modi is pushing, the poor section of the society, towards the wall as the people here are being forced to face hardships to get their own money,” he said.
