Srinagar, July 14: District Development Commissioner Shopian Mohammad Aijaz today convened a meeting with officers of Revenue and other concerned departments to review the progress and latest status with regard to Aadhar Cards in district.
The meeting was also attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Planning Officer, Tehsildars and other concerned officers and officials of the district.
The meeting was informed that out of total population the percentage wise adhar enrolment was 0.75%,(0-5 Yr), 24.53% (5-18 Yr) 74.72% (Above 18 yr) were enrolled under Aadhar and 216317 of Aadhar cards have been generated upto June 2017 in the district.
On the occasion the DDC directed the concerned to expedite process in all Tehsil of the district. He also impressed upon them to ensure timely delivery of Aadhar Cards to the citizens. He also appealed to general public of district Shopian who have not applied for Aadhar cards approach to the respective tehsildars so that they should get their Adhar card and can reap the immense benefits from various initiatives of government. DDC said that Aadhaar number will help people to verify their identity around the entire universe. The people who are not able to access their bank accounts can access their bank accounts with the help of aadhaar number, not only can access but can also get new accounts opened with the help of aadhar card. Aadhaar number will also help one in getting tickets booked online, getting new mobile connections, registering for your passport and all the places where your identity is needed to be verified.
Aadhar card will also be beneficial for people living in rural areas. It will help them to obtain the facilities which are provided to them by the Government, which were not accessible to them before. It will also help the poor people to reach the government directly, because with Aadhar cards in their hands they don’t have to carry plethora of documents and if they will carry their aadhar card they can reach the government without any problems.
Aadhar will also help the people who come under “Below Poverty Line” for Direct Cash Transfer Facility. This facility will help people who are under BPL to direct cash transfer to their bank accounts. Aadhar card also help the insurance companies in providing their services in rural areas. Aadhaar card also helps poor people to get jobs under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Other then providing a unique identification number Aadhaar can also be used for address proof (an alternate to ration cards and voter id cards).
One of the most important benefit of Aadhaar is that duplicate Aadhaar cards cannot be generated. This is because at the time of your enrollment biometric details of the individual are gathered.
Later DDC also meet with Fruit Growers Association Of Shopian. President Fruit Growers Association Mr. Mohammad Amin Peer apprised the chair about various issues and bottlenecks pertaining to them in the district. Apart from submiting to the chair that their should be time bound widening and macadamization /black topping of several important roads and link roads, including that of Shopian-Bijbehara and Shopian Habdipora road, they also demanded the timely completion of Mega Fruit Mandi at Aglar .Praising the DDC for solving up the issue of traffic jam in the town on a priority basis, the association were happy over this development as it had given the smooth flow of fruit trucks in the town. DDC also listened to their grievances patiently and assured the redressal of the same on priority basis.. He also sought cooperation of people in better public delivery system.
