Is this the new Rs 50 currency note? RBI plans to introduce soon

The new Rs 50 note leaked picture shows a smaller and more concise replica of the Rs 500 note and has the picture of Gandhi centered.

New Delhi, Aug 18: The Reserve Bank of India had revealed its plans of introducing new Rs 50 and Rs 20 currency notes in a more systematic manner. However, nobody knew how the new currency would look like until now. Rs 50 New Note Pictures appear to have leaked online as an image showing stacks of freshly printed Rs 50 notes have gone viral all over the social media. The new note picture shows a smaller and more concise replica of the Rs 500 note and has the picture of Gandhi centered. People are currently confused whether the pictures are real or fake but are intrigued by the design none the less.

The picture of the Rs 50 currency stack shows the note to be in a bright and vibrant green, which is very similar to the fake picture of Rs 1000 new note that was viral on WhatsApp. The Reserve Bank of India had announced its plans of introducing new notes for the lower denominations like Rs 50 and Rs 20 last year after the infamous currency demonetization. However, there was no other news about this new note after that.

These new pictures are being rumoured to be the notes that were planned to be printed. These new Rs 50 notes will be bearing the signature of the new Reserve Bank of India governor, Dr Urjit R Patel. The central bank had issued a statement in December 2016 which stated, “The Reserve Bank will shortly issue Rs 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, without inset letter in both the number panels.” The notes were also said to have the printing year as 2016.

    Rs 50 notes

New currency notes have been ruling the country ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the currency demonetization move on November 8, 2016. This announcement made the most used currency denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 illegal, and the government soon introduced new Rs 2000 and Rs 500 notes to compensate. After the successful completion of demonetization, the Reserve Bank of India also plans on releasing a new Rs 200 note, printing for which has already started.
