    Pakistan-China reject US Afghan plan, formulate own strategy

    Islamabad, Aug 29: Pakistan and China have agreed to facilitate peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and promote meaningful engagement.
    This understanding was reached during a meeting between Chinese Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs Deng Xijun and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua in Islamabad on Monday.
    Deng Xijun reaffirmed China’s continuing and firm support to Pakistan’s commitment and efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan.

    He underlined the need for a politically negotiated settlement through an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process as there is no military solution to the conflict.
    The Chinese Special Envoy lauded Pakistan’s contribution and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
    The Foreign Secretary emphasized the need of close cooperation and coordination between the two countries for promoting the shared objective of peace and stability in the region.
