    AJKPC starts UT-wide programmes to pay homage to martyred Ajay Pandita Bharti

    Anil Sharma reiterates demand for security to elected Panchayat members

     

    Jammu: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), the frontline organisation of elected Panchayat members, has started UT-wide programmes to pay tributes to martyred Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti who was brutally killed by terrorists in South Kashmir.

    The ‘Shardhajali programme’ were started from Rajouri town where 16 out of the total 19 Block Development Council (BDC) chairpersons and elected Sarpanches and Panches of the districts paid their homage to the martyred Sarpanch and recalled his contributions in strengthening the grassroots level democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.

    The programme was organised by the district Rajouri unit of AJKPC. Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Nazir Sheikh was the chief guest in the programme while the AJKPC UT president Anil Sharma presided over the function.

    During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the elected Panchayat members including BDC chairpersons and listened to the problems being faced by them in carrying out their day to day activities.

    “We appeal to the government especially ADGP (Security) that the security of Panchayat members should be a priority and an immediate security audit should be conducted. We are ready to provide the list of Panchayat members who are vulnerable to the present situation,” Anil Sharma said while addressing the gathering.

    Sharma said the Panchayat members across the Union Territory would hold ‘Shardhajali programmes’ at every district level to pay rich tributes to brave martyred Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti.

    A similar programme was organised by the district Poonch president of AJKPC Mohd Aslam Kohli who paid rich tributes to the martyred Sarpanch Ajay Pandita Bharti and vowed to work for strengthening of democracy at grassroots level.

    Speaking on the occasion, the elected Panchayat members including BDCs raised concern over arrogance of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch and said that he has never taken the elected representatives of the people on board.

    In his address, the AJKPC president urged the Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to immediately remove the deputy commissioner and appoint new “people-friendly” officers who knows how to deal with the public and elected representatives.

    In Rajouri, the ‘Shardhajali programme’ was attended by the Vikas Sharma, Jitender Singh, both vice presidents of AJKPC, Brahmin Sabha President Rajouri Kapil Saral, Insaaniyat Group chairman Ravinder Singh, District Coordinator Anil Kumar, BDC Rajouri Darbar Choudhary, BDC Qila Darhal Khalid Firdos, BDC Dungi Riaz Chaudhary, BDC Kalakot, Babu Khan, BDC Mogla Surekha Kotwal, BDC Seri Neena Kumari, BDC Nowshera Bodh Raj, BDC Siot Balakrishna, BDC Plangar, Praveen Akhtar, Chairman Municipal Council Rajouri, Chairman Arif Jatt, BBC Dangri Tazeem ji and Sarpanch Karana Sarhal, Sarpanch Sangeeta Sharma Sarpanch Nazma Shaheen, Sarpanch Aftab Majeed, Sarpanch Sajjan Sarpanch Isaq Khan and Sarpanch Kewal, District President Bajrang Dal, Suraj Prakash and other Sarpanches and Panches of the district.

    In Poonch, the programme was attended by Jameel Ahmed Kohli, BDC Poonch, Tahira Tabassum Sarpanch Baflyaz, Tahir Manzoor Mirza, Sarpanch, Haleem Khan Sarpanch, Sarfariz Ahmed Qureshi Sarpanch, Khalid Mugal Sarpanch, Zakir Hussain Choudhary Sarpanch, Mohd Bashir Sheikh Sarpanch and Amjad Khan Sarpanch.
