    Anti-encroachment operation conducted across valley

    Srinagar,18-Jan; The administration across the valley has taken action to remove encroachments on entire State and Kahcharai land and in this regard, the concerned Tehsildars have asked the encroachers to vacate the state land within a week, failure to do so will result in strict action.
    As per reports to CNS, the demolition campaign has been started in various areas of the valley, including Srinagar. These notices have been received through the respective magistrates in Bandipora, Hajan, Lar, Kangan, Ganderbal, Boniyar, Uri and other areas. Same notices have also been issued in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu province.
    These notices state that if any person fails to remove the encroachment, then the concerned department will take action to vacate the government land and he will be responsible for the damage. It further states that those who fail to remove the encroachment on the land strict action was taken against them under the law.
    Notably, government has issued instructions to all deputy commissioners to ensure 100% elimination of encroachments on government land by the end of this month. In this regard, on Wednesday demolition campaign was started in different areas of Bandipora, Srinagar, Pulwama and Baramulla.
    In Bandipora, 200 Kanals of illegal land, while in Srinagar, over 333 kanals of land including 202 kanals and 9 marlas of State land worth crores have been retrieved from land grabbers.
    Similar information of drives has been received from Shopian and Pulwama.
    Meanwhile, the administrative move has drawn criticism by the political parties like PDP, Democratic Azad Party and CPI as they have strongly opposed this decision.
    These parties say that the government is disturbing the people of Jammu and Kashmir for no reason. These parties organized separate protests in Jammu and demanded the government to withdraw this order. These parties say that if the government wants to remove the illegal occupation of government land, it should ban the big land mafia and the lands of poor people should not be touched.
    The leaders of these parties say that the encroachment of large government lands by the influential people should be removed and the land should not be taken away from the poor people under the Roshni Act.
    Senior CPI(M) leader Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami also described the government’s order as harassment of poor people. Congress, Dogra Front and Shiv Sena also staged protests in Jammu and demanded the government to withdraw the circular.
