    Army Commander for reducing carbon footprint, making eco system healthy

    Jammu, July 17:

    General Officer Commanding in Chief of Army’s Western Command, Lieutenant General R P Singh on Saturday advocating for planting more and more trees to reduce the carbon footprint from the environment.

    Speaking at a massive plantation drive function organized by Government of Haryana at Chandimandir Military Station, Lt General Singh conveyed Indian Army’s efforts to supplement India’s commitment to the world on reducing the carbon footprint and making the eco system healthy for our future generations.

    Alka Singh, President Regional Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) and VS Tanwar, PCCF, Government of Haryana also graced the event.

     

    Earlier, a tree plantation drive was held at Chandimandir Military Station to commemorate the week long afforestation initiative wherein 30,000 saplings of various varieties were planted. The entire plantation drive involved close coordination with forest department of Government  of Haryana.

    Numerous varieties of sapling were planted to include timber, ornamental, fruit bearing, flower bearing and medicinal varieties.
