Army organised a seminar on ‘Skill Development’, followed by a felicitation ceremony at Government PG College, Rajouri for the unemployed youth of Rajouri district. These young man have successfully qualified in various skill development courses which were conducted over a duration of four months at ITI of Rajouri.
These courses mark the culmination of the pilot project on ‘Skill Development : Future of J&K’ initiative taken by Army in the state as part of ‘Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna’. The event was graced by esteemed speakers to include Mr Shabin Hussain Shah, Principal of Govt PG college, Rajouri, Mr Mohit Kumar, Asst Dir MSME, and Mr Bashit Kurshid, District community organiser J&K EDI who spoke at length on skill development and various skill development schemes available in the State. An audience of more than 500 spectators including military and civilian dignitaries, skill development trainees and students were present on the occasion.
Commander of the Rashtriya Rifles Sector gave away the certificates of merit to the successful candidates. He stressed on continued support from civil administration and financial institutions till generation of employment to the certificate holders, so that these courses become a guiding beacon to the state of J&K. He thanked the Additional DC, Rajouri, who was present alongwith a number of other civil and military dignitaries.
Army has trained more than 90 unemployed youth of Rajouri district during the last three months. The youth were trained in skills like carpentry, driving and vehicle mechanic, computer operator and IT, plumbing & fitting and agriculture/ horticulture and hand embroidery which are in high demand in commercial market. This initiative will go a long way to channelise the potential of the talented youths of Rajouri district.
