Jammu, Dec 15: White Knight Corps flagged in ‘Sair-e-Watan’, an educational cum national integration tour recently at Nagrota. During an impressive flagging in ceremony at Nagrota, Lt Gen AK Sharma, GOC White Knight Corps, interacted with the young and buoyant students and expressed hope that the tour would inspire them to exploit the educational avenues existing outside the state of J&K.
The tour, conducted by the Army, comprised of 22 members including two teachers and twenty students from far flung villages of Ramban district. The students visited places of historical interest in Delhi, Vadodara and Ahmedabad during their ten days tour from 05-14 Dec 16. The visit provided the children an insight into historical significance of these heritage cities and provided them an opportunity to experience modernisation which is driving the modern day world. The students were also fortunate to interact with eminent personalities like Nobel laureate Shri Kailash Satyarthi, Governor of Gujarat, HE Shri OP Kohli and the blade runner, Major DP Singh. During the tour, the students also visited apex educational institute of the national capital, St Stephens College, New Delhi wherein open interaction with students & faculty was organized.
During the interaction the students stated that the educational facilities offered at some of the premier institutions like St Stephens College, Delhi was inspiring. They said they were highly motivated from their interactions with the acclaimed personalities and would strive to pursue their higher education and contribute towards nation building.
The students and teachers of the tour were appreciative of the efforts of the Army and were thankful for the opportunity provided. The students were impressed with the culture and traditions of the places they visited and inspired with the development and progress in other parts of the country.
