Jammu, Sep 17; Residents of Jammu city’s Bahu Fort on Sunday staged a massive protest against installation of Smart Meters and irritant water supply in the area. Chanting slogans against PDD and Jal Shakti Department, tyhe protesters led by Parshotam Lal president Saryara Sabha, Bahu Fort and its youth wing presidn et Kamaljeet Saryara took massive large number of residents assembled at Kaccha Talab area and hold demonstration in shape of big rally. After passing through various localities and rally culminated at Main Chowk, Bawe. Soon scores of locals, mostly women assembled on road and stage demonstrations against the move.
The protesters shouted slogans against PDD and Jal Shakti department. Addressing the protesters Parshotam Lal president Saryara Sabha, Bahu Fort said that the residents in Bahu Fort were facing low water supply from past some time. He said that neither there was a regular water supply roster nor anyone from the Jal Shakti Department brother to take care of the issue. “We are residing on the bank of our River Tawi from where most of the water supply schemes housed but unfortunately a large portion of water was pumped to other non -regularized colonies and commercial establishments by passing the native Bahu Fort,” he said.
“The department prioritized illegal colonies ignoring the residence of Bahu Fort, which is unacceptable at any cost,” he said. Residents have also complained that due to low pressure, water is not going to the first or second floor of the house. He said this protester is just a warning and if matters no resolve. The entire Bahu Fort will come on roads and administration is responcible for that. Others who presented on the occasion, Pritam Chand Chairman, Mahatma Atma Ram Sidh Ji Trust, Romesh Lal Sagotra, Terseem Lal, Neeraj Shabotra, Jagdev Dalotra.
