Balwant Thakur honoured in Mauritius

Global Rainbow Foundation, Mauritius honoured Balwant Thakur who is currently the Cultural Diplomat of India to Mauritius heading Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture, Phoenix at Foundation headquarters in Petit Raffray, Mauritius. The honours were conferred by Dr. Armogum Parsuramen , the former Director of UNESCO, Paris and Minister of Education, Arts, Culture and Science Republic of Mauritius. On the occasion a citation was also read glorifying the global contribution of Balwant Thakur in enriching the relations of India with rest of the world through cultural initiatives. Balwant Thakur recently joined as head of World’s biggest Cultural Centre of India Abroad based in Phoenix, Mauritius after playing a praiseworthy inning in Johannesburg as Cultural Diplomat of India to South Africa. Conferred with Padamshree and the highest Indian honour in performing arts, he has many prestigious honours of world acclaim to his credit. Within a short span of time Balwant Thakur has revolutionised the cultural scene of Mauritius through his innovative ways of showcasing the culture. Being a creative person he has a huge hold over devising and creating new cultural content and being an accomplished administrator he has the amazing knowhow of getting things implemented in an effective and beneficial manner. Number of events from India which were restricted to two to three a month have witnessed a record upsurge to fifteen a month now. Many new programmes have been introduced which are not only novice to Mauritius but they are also being appreciated so overwhelmingly that majority are being repeated on public demand. Interestingly where ever he has gone and worrked, he proved his metal sheer through his mindblowing futuristic cultural vision and outstanding ability to administer. Holding the longest ever experience of handling cultural affairs, Balwant Thakur has the credit of having served various prestigious cultural positions like Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Arts Culture and Languages and Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations in Ministry of External Affairs Government of India. Apart from being a proven administrator and most innovative creator, Balwant Thakur holds a unique distinction of having travelled to over 100 international cities spread in majority of the world with outstanding Indian cultural presentations as designer, director and presenter.
