Srinagar, July 28: The J&K High Court Bar Association, Srinagar, Friday constituted a legal team to examine the constitutional validity of National Investigation Agency Act, 2008 and its application to the State of J&K and suggest ways and means for providing necessary legal aid to all those who have been booked in FIR No. RC-10/2017/NIA/DIL by NIA and after their arrests have been taken to Delhi and remanded to police custody.
This according to a statement was decided by the Executive Committee of the Bar Association in its meeting, which was called to discuss various issues concerning the people of Kashmir, more particularly the one, relating to the “misuse of the provisions of the NIA Act by the NIA authorities, in terrorizing, arresting, humiliating and harassing the pro-freedom leadership and their activists in Kashmir.”
According to the Bar statement the team constituted to provide legal help to those arrested by NIA comprises of Advocates ZA Shah, ZA Qureshi, Bashir Ahmad Bashir, RA Jan, Altaf Haqani, Mushtaq Ahmad Makhdoomi, Syed Manzoor, GA Lone, Arshad Andrabi, Nazir Ahmad Ronga, Reyaz Khawar, and Mohammad Shafi Reshi
