    Better road connectivity key to socio-economic transformation: Lal Singh

    Minister inspects PMGSY projects in Kathua villages

    JAMMU, DECEMBER 15: Emphasizing the need for improving rural connectivity, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh Thursday said the socio-economic development of far-flung areas is possible only with better road connectivity.  lal-singh

    “Better roads will lead to rural prosperity across the State,” Mr Singh said while   taking stock of PMGSY projects in Dunga, Badanaal, Dwalta and Palail villages of district Kathua.

    Executive Engineer PMGSY, DFO Social Forestry, DFO Territorial, DFO Forest Protection Force, AEE PMGSY, besides other officers accompanied the minister during the tour.

    Inspecting the progress on Dwalta-Palail road, the Minister directed the engineers to raise protection walls and lay crates on the roadsides wherever needed. He said protection works are necessary to avoid damages to roads due to land sliding.

    The Minister said that expansion and up-gradation of road network is the top priority of the government.  He directed the executing agency to further expedite the pace of work to meet the deadlines.
