Udhampur: To sensitize forest frontline Forest department Panchari, Agriculture Department, Horticulture Department, Social Welfare Department, Sheep Husbandry Department, Rural Development Department and other allied departments held an interaction meet at Galiote panchayat on Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) for piloting the preparation of people’s Biodiversity register was organized by Rural Development Department Panchari. The Sarpanch Kayan Devi and PRI members were also present. During the programme, lectures on cultivated, domesticated, wild and land biodiversity were delivered by Naib Sarpanch Surjeet Singh and various experts from different departments for Conservation, utilization and benefit sharing of biodiversity resources. Forest department highlighted medicinal, economical, cultural and ecological importance of different life forms. Sanjeev Singh, Horticulture Technician spoke on diseases and medicinal properties of fruit plants and other participants with his opinion on information of wild flora of tehsil-Panchari and gave his views on ethno botany, local medicinal plants with special reference to culture and religion. Agriculture Department also gave an overview of agricultural crops and medicinal values.
