Boycott Chinese Rakhis and celebrate purely Hindustani Rakhi Festival: Rekha Mahajan
Ahead of the Rakshabandhan festival Rekha Mahajan Secretary BJP J&K UT appealed to boycott Chinese Rakhis and has resolved for a “purely Hindustani Rakhi Festival” on August 3.
Unlike flashy, well-cut rakhis that are sold at attractive rates are made in China, the Indian version is mostly a simple thread but this time we have thrown a challenge to China by boycotting rakhis made in China. We should ourselves made rakhies and tie them to our brothers.
Rakhi symbolises the love of brothers and sisters, In order to encourage the brave soldiers, our brothers, who are guarding the borders of the country and are the true protectors of all, this time we all should pledge that any rakhi made by China or any rakhi-related product from China will not be used. An estimated trade of ₹6,000 crore takes place every year in India on Raksha Bandhan in which China alone contributes about ₹4,000 crores. Not only is finished rakhi imported from China but also rakhi-making products like foam, paper foil, rakhi thread, pearls, drops, decorative items for rakhi are also imported.
After the Modi government’s encirclement of China at the global level, we should launch a campaign against Chinese products on the domestic front. And with the festival of rakhi around the corner and by taking a cue from PM Narendra Modi’s “vocal for local” call, we should make indigenous rakhis to sell them at cheaper rates in order to counter the Chinese rakhis.
While this decision will strengthen the self-reliant scheme, it will also benefit the country’s economy under the Swadeshi Abhiyan.”At a time when China is aggressively posting its forces at the borders of Ladakh and trying to create its base in neighbouring Nepal with a view to surround India with its forces, the boycott Chinese goods campaign will be a fitting reply to China.
People have lost interest in the use of Chinese goods after 20 soldiers, including an Indian Army officer, were killed in a clash with the Chinese Army in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh. The present government at the centre has successfully exposed the nefarious designs of both China and Pakistan before the international community.”
Ahead of other festivals – Janmashtami, Ganesh Utsav, Navratri and Diwali. By then, we expect that ‘no-Chinese’ campaign to gain momentum. Everyone should boycott Chinese goods and use indigenous items.”
