Police constitute a team to nab the accused
Reasi: Accused of sexually harassing a subordinate, Reasi police has launched a massive manhunt to nab the accused supervisor, posted as In-charge Child Development Programme Officer (CDPO) for Mahore project in Reasi district of Jammu division.
Sources told CNS that the accused supervisor of Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) Mohammad Aslam, who is working as Incharge CDPO Mahore project, had been allegedly harassing an Anganwari worker (name withheld) sexually since a long time.
As per the FIR, filed by the victim, a copy of which is with CNS, the accused was harassing her and asking sexual favours from her, through phone calls and whatsup messages, which she had been refusing.
In 2019, after getting married, the victim conceived and was expected to deliver in January 2020.
Subsequently, she approached the accused with maternity leave application for ten months, which was refused by the accused, depriving her of a legal right, which under no circumstances can be refused.
Forced by the circumstances, the victim left for Jammu, in the last week of January 2020, without the approval of the leave and delivered a male baby there on 31st January.
Subsequently, the accused allegedly began to put pressure on her to join back her duties, which under circumstances was not possible for her.
As per the statement of the victim, given before the Police, In February 2020, the newborn baby of the victim fell sick and she had to take her to Jammu for treatment, which stretched over a long time.
Incidentally, because of The C Ovid-19 lockdown, the victim got stranded in and could not return back to Mahore, despite the alleged pressure from the accused to attend the duties.
It was after the intense harassment of the accused, that the victim approached police and filed a complaint against the accused in P.S Mahore, on 25th June 2020, with all the evidence she had against him.
Subsequently, police took an action to nab the accused, however, the accused ran away and is still absconding.
Meanwhile, Station House Officer Police Station Mahore Rattan Singh confirmed the registration of a complaint against the absconding accused, said that FIR under number 59/2020 under sections 354/354A/354D IPC stands registered in the police station against the accused and manhunt is on to arrest him.
Singh said, “We have sufficient shreds of evidence against the accused with us, including the screenshots of his obscene messages to the victim”
He said, “We have constituted a team to nab the accused and have so far conducted many raids for the purpose, but the accused has so far been successful in evading the arrest.”
“The accused cannot remain absconding for long and we will soon nab him”, he added.
