UDHAMPUR, DEC 17: Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, Shantmanu released a book highlighting the achievements made under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) here today.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEO said that the main aim of holding different awareness programmes under SVEEP is to ensure that all eligible electors are enrolled in the Electoral Roll besides facilitating inclusive and qualitative electoral participation aimed at strengthening our democracy. He further informed that every possible effort is being made to make the slogan of the Election Commission of India ‘No voter is left behind’, a reality.
The CEO further said that students can play an important role in creating voters awareness. Highlighting the importance of the National Voters Day, he laid focus on enrolling youth and creating awareness among the future voters.
Besides, the CEO directed Dy DEO to make the voters aware about on-line registration for further facilitating the registration process.
The CEO informed that Udhampur is one of the best two districts in the state as far as implementation of SVEEP and Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll are concerned.
Various cultural programmes highlighting the importance of voting were also presented by the students of different educational institutions on the occasion.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Niraj Kumar presented apprised the CEO of various awareness programmes being conducted under SVEEP. He also informed that various initiatives have been taken by the district administration to facilitate specially abled, and other marginalized voters.
Among others, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Raman Kesar, ADC Angrez Singh Rana, Deputy Chief Electoral officer, Krishan Lal, Joint Director Planning Rakesh Jamwal, Dy DEO Sapna Kotwal, all EROs and AEROs besides other district officers and large number of students were present on the occasion.
