Mehbooba stresses on raising more physical infra at schools to balance curricular, extracurricular components
636 Middle Schools upgraded under RMSA; GIS mapping of schools being completed
JAMMU, DEC 13: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid stress on raising more physical infrastructure at schools to balance the curricular and extracurricular components of education. She also directed fast pacing recruitment process so that students don’t suffer due to non availability of teachers.
The Chief Minister was chairing the 3rd meeting of Governing Body of Noor Society which is the implementing society for RMSA in the State.
Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar and Minister of State for Education and Tourism, Priya Sethi were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister advised the meeting to incorporate more physical activity in school curriculum so that students get a balanced attention in developing their physical and mental faculties. She specifically asked for developing sports grounds and stadia at schools in convergence mode with other Departments and agencies.
Mehbooba Mufti also laid emphasis on consolidation of infrastructure at schools. She directed early completion of girls’ hostels being constructed by the society and earmarking some occupancies there for students belonging to SC, ST and other weaker sections of society.
The meeting was informed that that since the inception of RMSA 636 middle schools in the State have been upgraded to the level of high schools. Also 68 Girls hostels, costing around Rs. 20 crore, are under construction across the State.
The meeting was also informed that the GIS mapping of all schools in the State has been initiated and it is likely to be completed by December 2016. So far 25511 schools out of 29094 have been mapped and remaining are likely to be mapped soon, the meeting was told.
Chief Secretary, B. R. Sharma; Financial Commissioner, Planning and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, B. B. Vyas; Commissioner- Secretary, Finance, Navin Choudhary; Commissioner-Secretary, Education, Shaleen Kabra; Director, RMSA, Saugat Biswas; Directors of School Education, Kashmir & Jammu ; other senior officers besides members of the society were present in the meeting.
